Namolokama O'Hanalei Canoe Club was founded and organized to provide an environment where individuals interested in competitive or recreational outrigger canoe paddling can come together to enjoy a common bond. As a non-profit organization with a strong tie to the local community, the Club's mission is focused on education, community service and canoe events training and competition.
Our by-laws define our purpose as follows:
a. to teach, train, and instruct children, men and women (i) the art of traditional and cultural Hawaiian canoe paddling, (ii) good sportsmanship through competitive Hawaiian canoe paddling, and (iii) good community citizenship through perpetuation of the ancient art of Hawaiian canoe paddling in the North Shore community of Kauai, and
b. To expose members of the general public, especially those residing on the North Shore of Kauai, to the ancient and modern art, craft and history of Hawaiian canoeing, and to encourage their participation so as to maintain and perpetuate Hawaiian culture through the promotion of Hawaiian water sports.
